Long ago when the world was simple, the continents as we know them were still connected. The people in the connected world generally stayed in their own part of the large landmass. If they were to travel outside their area, it was for trade. Most of the people were peaceful, hardly ever getting into wars. If there did happen to be an argument, it was settled quickly without physical fighting.
One day, however, a trade transaction went wrong. A farmer sent his order for pelts in ahead of time so when he arrived, he didn’t have to wait. He also sent some of the payment, because he knew he could trust this person. They have been doing trades for a very long time before this one.
Well, the messenger who was in charge of the order got sidetracked. He was passing over the invisible border when all of a sudden he saw a beautiful strong white horse. His lame mule was barely doing anything for him. The horse was so inviting, he just couldn’t resist. He followed the stallion as best as he could and this caused for the message to not arrive.
Later, when the farmer went to retrieve his order, he was told that it was never made. The farmer and seller being the early civilized people that they were didn’t even think that the messenger could have gotten lost. Their savage behavior finally showed through.
The farmer accused the pelt seller of stealing his payment and becoming an untrustworthy person. The pelt seller in turn, had absolutely no idea what the farmer was talking about and they starting arguing. Their arguments kept on getting louder and louder and more beastly. The farmer returned to his part of the land in a huff and got together many of his friends. The pelt seller did the same.
Gossip traveled fast over the land, even though it was quite large. What else were they to do? Story got mixed up and people starting accusing others of doing wrong. All the many different parts of the land were each fighting bitterly against one another. There was a major world war going on.
Because such a war has never happened to these people, they settled it the best way they could. They decided to separate themselves from each other. They had a minor dispute over where their borders were but when they figured it out, they decided it was time for a split.
Every single person, except of course for those unable, helped in this dividing. With their large sticks in hand, they simultaneously lifted their sticks and shoved them violently into the ground right on their boundaries. They pushed and heaved and dug deep into the ground until finally, the land started to crack.
Slowly, the world was changing. Each landmass was drifting away. Once they finally were far enough away, they realized they have made a horrible mistake.
They were once peaceful, trading with each other, sharing their diversity. They tried to solve their problems by pushing each other away. They realized that there would only be constant disagreements within their own land.
The way we see our earth today, divided land and cultures, was the cause of a war. Trying to run from your problems will only make them worse. Our land stays this way until we can come up with harmony and unity.
In my english class, we were assigned to make a myth. It was to be on anything we wanted.

This is a myth about why the continents are no longer connected.

I know this myth is incorrect in many ways. Get over it.
